Join NO2ID
Please consider becoming a member of the main NO2ID organisation or making a donation to support their work. The more support that they get the more likely it is that they will be able to make a difference.
There is also a NO2ID mailing list for expats. This will be used to announce further expat activities.
Spread the word
We need as many people as possible to protest against the government's plans so please spread the word. Some ways to do this are:
- Tell your UK expat friends.
- Put notices up in places frequented by local UK expats (e.g. community centres, clubs and associations, school or church groups, "British" pubs)
- Post messages on local UK expat websites
- Tell your local UK expat press about this protest action
... and of course you should tell people in the UK what is happening as well! There are plenty of events being organised in the UK that they may be able to contribute to.
Petition your representatives
We may not be living in the UK but we do still have a relationship with the UK government (they give us passports) and we may still vote in UK elections. So get in touch with your various government representatives to let them know your concerns. This may include:
- your local consul or ambassador
- the Foreign and Commonwealth office
- your British MP
Register to vote in UK elections
If you have been living overseas for less than 15 years then you may still be entitled to vote in UK elections. Use your vote to support parties that have taken a clear stand against the National Identity Scheme.
The Electoral Commission have a website, www.aboutmyvote.co.uk, where you can find the address of your electoral registration office and download a registration form.
